The futures markets just got more flexible!

Starting February 24, the CME Group is introducing five new Micro Agricultural Futures contracts on Corn, Soybeans, Wheat, Soybean Oil, and Soybean Meal.

CME Micro Grain Futures Contracts

These contracts are designed to provide greater precision in risk management, making them ideal for producers, agribusinesses, and traders looking for smaller, more manageable positions in the grain and oilseed markets.

Why Micro Agricultural Futures?

The agricultural futures market has long been dominated by standard-sized contracts, which, while effective, can be too large for some market participants. Micro Ag Futures can solve this challenge by offering contracts that are 1/10th the size of traditional benchmark Ag futures.

Key Benefits of Micro Ag Futures

✅ Financially Settled – No worries about the complexities of physical delivery. These contracts settle in cash, making them ideal for hedgers and speculators alike.

✅ Lower Capital Requirements – With a smaller contract size, traders can now participate in the market with lower margin obligations, offering more flexibility in managing risk.

✅ Expanded Risk Management – Now, farmers, agribusinesses, and commercial traders can fine-tune their risk exposure across the entire grain and oilseed complex, from row crops to feed ingredients.

Who Can Benefit?

🔹 Producers – Looking to hedge risk in more precise amounts? These Micro contracts provide more tailored hedging options for your specific output.

🔹 Agribusinesses – Manage exposure with a cost-effective tool that aligns with your supply chain needs.

🔹 Traders & Investors – Gain exposure to agricultural markets without committing to large contract sizes, making it easier to implement diversified strategies.
